P0079

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0079 indicates that there is an issue with the circuit that controls the exhaust valve control solenoid for bank 1. This may result in poor engine performance, reduced fuel efficiency and increased emissions.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Decreased engine performance and fuel efficiency

  • Rough idle or stalling

  • Increased emissions levels

Possible Causes:

  • Faulty exhaust valve control solenoid

  • Damaged or corroded wiring in the circuit

  • Loose or disconnected electrical connections

  • Failed powertrain control module (PCM)

Related Parts:

  • Exhaust Valve: The exhaust gases after combustion are sent out of the engine through the exhaust valve. Problems lead to harmful emissions out of limit

Possible Solutions:

  • Check and replace the exhaust valve control solenoid if necessary

  • Inspect and repair any damaged wiring or connections in the circuit

  • Tighten or reconnect any loose or disconnected electrical connections

  • Replace the powertrain control module (PCM) if needed
